An island seed puts your spawn point on land that is enclosed by ocean rather than connected to a mainland. In practice players use several names for the same idea — survival island, deserted island, lonely island, or just a seed where you spawn on an island — and they all describe the same starting condition: limited land, limited trees, and the ocean as your only route out.
All 150 island seeds indexed here were scanned offline from the world seed, so the structure coordinates on each page are exact rather than estimated. That matters more on an island start than anywhere else: when your first shipwreck or ocean monument is 800 blocks away across open water, you want to know which direction to sail before you build the boat.
Island spawn biomes in this collection
Islands are not all the same. The biome you land in decides whether you get wood on day one, and it is the single biggest difference between an easy island start and a brutal one. Across the 150 indexed island seeds the most common spawn biomes are Desert (25 seeds), Plains (20), Beach (18) and Forest (18), followed by Stony Shore (10) and a run of snowy variants — Snowy Plains (8), Snowy Taiga (8) and Snowy Beach (6).
A forest or plains island is the forgiving version: trees for a boat and a crafting table within the first minute. A desert island is the classic hard start — no wood at all on the island itself, so your opening move is finding a shipwreck or a nearby landmass. Stony Shore and the snowy islands sit in between: stone and coal are easy, wood is not.
How to play an island start
The opening on any island seed is the same three moves. Check the structure table on the seed page for the nearest shipwreck or ruined portal — on ocean-heavy worlds these are usually the closest thing to you and both carry loot worth more than anything on the island. Then note the nearest village, which is your source of beds, crops and trades. Then decide whether the nearest ocean monument is a target or a hazard, because on an island start you will be swimming a lot.
Every seed page below opens with a rendered map of the spawn area, so you can see the shape and size of your island before you create the world — including whether it is a single landmass or the two-island layout some players look for specifically.
Java and Bedrock
The island seeds indexed here are computed for Java Edition 1.21. Terrain generation has been shared between the editions since 1.18, so the same seed number produces the same island shape on Bedrock — but structure placement does not carry over, because each edition uses its own placement RNG. If you are on Bedrock, treat the island itself as accurate and re-check the structure coordinates on the interactive map with the edition switched, or browse our Bedrock collection instead.
